Le Parc National des Cévennes

Le Parc National des Cévennes

The Cévennes National Park covers three counties - Lozère, Gard and Ardèche, and two regions - Languedoc-Roussillon and Rhône-Alpes.

Outstanding natural, architectural and historical heritage can be discovered in Cévennes National Park.
This is a lively, living territory with Unesco rankings. Unesco has two tools which serve preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems: Biosphere reserves and sites registered as UNESCO World Heritage.
In 1985, the quality of the sites fashioned by the hand of man, the harmonious balance between man and nature, fashioned over centuries of successive generations, and the care taken to develop both protection and growth all led to the Cévennes National Park being registered as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
In 2011, the Mediterranean agro-pastoral landscapes in the Causses highlands and the Cévennes became part of UNESCO World Heritage. This is international acknowledgement of the universal value of the centuries-old husbandry practices in the Cévennes and the Causses and the related traditions and savoir-faire.
