Vézénobres
Built at the confluence of the Gardons of Alès and of Anduze, Vézénobres is an important crossroads in the Gard region: the town brings together the world of the garrigue and the Gardonnenque plain, while at the same time, it prefigures the Cevennes mountains.
Perched on a rocky spur that is 219 at its highest point,
Vézénobres is a veritable conservatory of medieval architecture. In order to appreciate its riches, the visitor should stroll along the narrow passages, often with stairs, known as andonas in the Occitane language that frequently constituted a quick and easy means of access to the tiered streets of the village.
At the foot of the old town, the parish church and Calviaire Castle bear witness to the sumptuous art of the 18th century.
