Saint-Gilles
Another source of fervent feeling still present today is Saint-Gilles.
He was reputed to be able to cure all ills. His tomb, located in the huge abbey crypt, regularly drew pilgrims on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.
The Abbey was partly destroyed by the religious wars and the French Revolution, and has kept only its facade and the crypt. Another sight not to be missed is the famous Vis de Saint-Gilles, with its characteristic curved surfaces and round vault.
