Uzès

Another visit not to be missed: Uzès, once called Uzetia. It become an Episcopal and consular town. Its Duchy, which was created in 1572 in the reign of Charles 9th is notable in that it still belongs to the same family, the Crusol family of Uzès. The 17th and 18th centuries brought prosperity to the town. This is the era in which the beautiful monuments were raised. The town was classified ville d'art by the Malraux law in 1962.

A sight that should not be missed is that of Uzès market. It will stir your appetite. The abundance of local products with their southern flavours will tickle your nostrils and then delight your taste buds.

And like any self-respecting holidaymaker, you might enjoy an aniseed flavoured drink in the shade of a hundred-year plane tree, while watching from afar the madding crowds and all the riotous colour of a Provençal market.

Living is easy and sweet in Uzège...
