UNUSUAL! A Guest room in a barge

In Bellegarde, at the gateway to the Camargue, the Barge “FARNIENTE” lies anchored on the Rhône to Sète Canal. Built in 1922, it initially served to transport coal along the Canal du Centre, between Chalon sur Saône and Digoin. After all those years of hard work, the new owners, Laurent and Cathy Michel, have offered it a new lease of life. Lovingly restored, this barge offers three cabins, rated 3 épis by Gîtes de France. Inside, the emphasis has been placed on comfort: woodwork, air-conditioning, each room has a bathroom fitted with a shower with massage nozzles and a WC. A French-style breakfast is served in the dining room or on the terrace with a view over the port...
Since April 2007, Laurent and Cathy have been organising 2-day mini cruises in the Camargue: from Bellegarde to Aigues-Mortes, along the waterway...
