The Rhône Valley vineyard, second largest French A.O.C. vineyard in terms of surface and production, produced in 250 communes spread across 6 departments, is one of the most beautiful and the most diverse in France.
Indeed, this vineyard represents a whole range of terroirs, soils and climates that offer rich wines, mainly red.
In the Gard department, we are concerned by this appellation, for several reasons ; firstly by the Côtes du Rhône VIllages (Laudun, Chusclan, Saitn Gervais and Signargues), then by two Vintages (Lirac and Tavel), and lastly, by the incorporation of Costières de Nîmes wines to the Rhône Valley.
Côtes du Rhône Village wines are spread across 95 communes, 18 of which are allowed to mention their geographical name.
The Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grape varieties are primarily used for the production of red wines, while white wines are made using the Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier grape varieties.
There are 15 Côtes du Rhône Vintages, and the Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre grape varieties are widely used in red wines, and the same applies for clairette, Roussanne and Viognier in white wines.
