Leaving the valleys and plains in late spring, the animals reach the grazing areas of the highlands until mid-October. In the middle of June, their stay at L'Esperou, on the slopes of Mount Aigoual, is celebrated by the feast of the Transhumance with parades herds "pumped", demonstrations of know-how, mowing, dog work herd, and shepherds' meal ...

The Mont Aigoual in the Cevennes is, with Mont Lozère, among the last places where summer transhumance is practiced in a traditional way using the drailles, these ancestral paths used by the shepherds and their herds to reach the summer pastures.
